How long did you wait? Usually it takes some time until the loading bar changes, at least most of the times. Very short games might load faster. If successful, you should be able to quickly replay the game with a more intuitive interface, i.e. the possibility to jump to certain days without a website which needs to reload every day. Also, if you decide to export the replay data to html files, you can review the game via your image viewer program. You can build an archive of your replays and send them to anyone as zip files.
If you know the enemy and know yourself you need not fear the results of a hundred battles.

I updated the opening post.
When run it for the first time the program can be quite slow, because it has to download a number of images from the website.
Big games can be very slow to download, but browsing them manually would be even slower
If you end up getting an error message, post it here and I'll try to help.

Thanks for the insight! I think that may have been it, having to download all images on the first usage. Could the Asian charset be the issue? Well, I don't think so but probably it is if you're referencing the game name at some point...

@Abroxas: Yeah I figured it would take some time for the progress bar to charge, however I kept patient and it was 100% filled eventually. After waiting another couple of periods of time, nothing happened still. I typed a game ID from a pretty random game between two players.

From a usability point of view, the program doesn't give useful feedback on what it is doing right now, which is unfortunate. If you've got too much time and proceed to the next revision, you might want to add a text label going "downloading day 13/618..." :D

Good idea. I'll do just that.

Say, is there any hope for Linux support? I've switched my computer syste and it doesn't seem to work anymore. If anyone managed to emulate this tool (maybe via WINE), I'd be very grateful for some advise.

If hetchel releases source, you could give it a go compiling on mono, wine is a bit of a pain for .net I hear.

Yep, it doesn't work anymore on Linux, because I messed up.
Here, I fixed it.

New Release - AWBW Replay Tool V10

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/31240947/AWBWTool-v10.zip

new in v10
* added some stats (unit count) in the text log
* added feedback on downloads in the text log
* removed newline bug, now it runs on Linux again (with minor display bugs).
To run on Linux, use your package manager to install mono and libmono-winforms2.0-cil, then run "mono AWBWTool.exe"
* was confirmed running on MacOSX by a friend. You also need to install Mono first.

(source code is here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/31240947/AWBWTool-v10-src.zip)

Let me say how aresome it is how you fixed just as quick as that. :) It's very awesome!
If you're planning on working on more fixes, could you imagine to try minimizing the displaying bugs under linux? There some white tiles which cover the original terrain, even the html data is filled with those.

I really like how the tool tracks units. Would it be possible to display the army value too?

I can't download the game "http://awbw.amarriner.com/game.php?games_id=168923" with any version of the tools.

It seems like it is too late to download the game, the server had it deleted. You can only download a game while its online replay page still works.

Hellraider wrote:I really like how the tool tracks units. Would it be possible to display the army value too?

Yes, easily. Unfortunately I don't have time for that right now. I don't even have time to play AWBW anymore...

Any programmer experienced in C# with Visual Studio is encouraged to download the source code at http://dl.dropbox.com/u/31240947/AWBWTool-v10-src.zip and add the army value, and change whatever suits him. I hereby release the code in the public domain.

Bye for now, AWBW... Maybe one day I will return.

Thanks so much for making this program! It's awesome that you've released the code to public domain. I'll take a look and if I get time I'll make modifications to add army value. :)

New Release - AWBW Replay Tool v2.0.0

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/9026830/awbwtool/AWBWTool%20v2.0.0.zip

new in v2.0.0

* new version string to better differentiate changes. Major changes like replay save format will increment the first number. Feature additions will increment the second number. Bug fixes will increment the last number.
* better text display.
* total value in html export and text log.
* unit stats in html export.

I've put up the code at https://github.com/WhiteHalmos/awbwtool. The README contains a lot of stuff hetchel wrote, which makes it so much easier to pick up where he dropped off. Hats off to hetchel again for creating such a great tool.

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Note: Had to delete and repost to fix link. No edit post it seems. :)

Working on next version. Currently fixed total unit value calculations to take into consideration damaged units, as well as improved html export to better show what happened between turns.
