Mortar Infantry would best be used in mountains near choke points or to hinder an enemy convoy. Use in Mountains would force the enemy to use Infantry or other indirect units to attack them, so the Mortar Infantry would best be accompanied by Infantry or Mech units. Mortar Infantry act as both Indirect and direct combat units. If a Mortar Infantry unit moves it still has the option of using its machine gun, if the Mortar Infantry unit remains in place it has the option of using its Mortar.
Mortar Infantry can capture factories, cities, etc. but only at 80% efficiency as a full health Infantry unit.
