Information
As many of you may have noticed, the S-Rank and A-Rank maps on the site have not been updated in quite some time. There are 100 spots available in total, 10 S-Rank maps and 90 A-Rank maps. Currently there are only 42 A-Rank maps, and many of these maps might not be deserving of their place. There are many newer maps out there that would make great replacements, and we, the Map Committee, would like your help selecting them.
We are accepting user nominations for A-Rank and S-Rank map candidates from August 2nd through November 30th, 2011. At that time, nominations will be closed. After all nominations have been made, the Map Committee will select the top 100 maps from the pool of nominated maps as the new A-Rank and S-Rank maps. Note: Just because a map is nominated does not guarantee that it will be chosen as an A-Rank or S-Rank map.
It is helpful if you link maps when you nominate them. Please read the rules below. Also you can find a list of nominated maps, arranged by number of nominations. A list of users and the number of nominations they have given is also below.

Rules
Please read these carefully.
1) Each user may nominate six maps in total. You may nominate no more than three of your own maps. In the event of extra nominations, only the first six maps total and the first three of a user's own maps will be taken. A map will not be considered for A- or S-Rank until it receives an initial nomination and a second nomination from a different user.
2) You may, at any time, remove your nomination of a map and change it to a different one. However, if this is being abused, we will not take any further nominations from that user. This is meant so that you do not feel that your nominations are set in stone, and you can change them if you change your mind.
3) 1 vs. 1 maps only. Multiplayer maps will not be considered.
4) No new maps. A map may only be nominated once it has been on the site for at least one month.
5) Maps that are already in the following categories receive automatic nominations: S-Rank, A-Rank, and A-Rank *pending*. You do not need to nominate these maps, as they are already in consideration.
6) Maps that are in the "Hall of Fame" category will not be considered, as that category consists of old A-Rank and S-Rank maps.

Other Things To Consider
The nominations are meant to help the Map Committee be aware of good maps on the site, and to give your own good maps another shot at recognition. Keep in mind that the A- and S-Rank categories are the top 100 maps on the site. So please only nominate the maps that you sincerely think are worthy of being called "one of the best maps on the site". We do not want to waste our time looking through obviously subpar maps when there are more worthy candidates out there for consideration.
Be aware of balance issues. Maps that do not have FTA counters or are noticeably imbalanced should not be nominated. Similarly, maps that are very aesthetically unpleasant or have other glaring problems should not be nominated. If you are unsure of whether a map has issues, please feel free to ask anyone on the Map Committee, and they will be able to help you.
Also know that there are no definite restrictions on map size, type, or style (outside of the 40x40 limit and that they must be 1 vs. 1). The only true requirements are that the map is fair and fun. In fact, unique and creative maps are encouraged. Maps with black tiles, ghost units, labs instead of HQs, maps that encourage naval or air battles, or maps that have other gimmicks can and should be nominated, assuming of course that the map is still fun and fair. Very large maps or very small maps are also okay to nominate, though they generally will not be selected very often.
