This thread will hold all PCs and NPCs for the campaign.

HOW TO CREATE YOUR CHARACTER
I'll give a brief overview of creating your character here. Pages 34-35 of the rulebook have a really good quick start character generation spread. That's a good thing to follow, too. You'll need to look at the book for skills at the very least.
All die rolls for the campaign should be done via http://www.invisiblecastle.com. There's no need to register there, but you can if you want to. Enter your character's name, "Miskatonic Valley" in the campaign box if you registered at the site, leave the rolls box at 1 and then copy/paste the following into the Dice box: 3d6;3d6;3d6;3d6;3d6;3d6;2d6+6;2d6+6. That will give you all the rolls you need for your character. If you're not satisfied, you can reroll everything.
The rolls you're presented with must be assigned to Characteristics. The first six rolls must be placed in Strength (STR), Constitution (CON), Power (POW), Dexterity (DEX), Appearance (APP) and Education (EDU). You determine which of the six rolls go towards each of those six characteristics. Make sure to add 3 to the roll you assign to EDU. The last two rolls will be the 2d6+6 rolls and they go towards Intelligence (INT) and Size (SIZ). Again, you determine which roll goes where.
Next you have to generate some other characteristics that are just based off of the ones you just created. Sanity (SAN) is POWx5, Idea is INTx5, Luck is POWx5, Know is EDUx5, Hit Points is (SIZ+CON)/2 (round up), and Magic Points is POW. You also get a damage bonus based on SIZ+STR. Refer to the table on page 35 of the rulebook (this can be ignored for the time being, too).
Next up is your Occupation and Skills. On page 40 of the rulebook are sample occupations which are common in Lovecraft stories. These are good because they fit with the flavor of the game and give skills appropriate to the occupation. If you want to be something other than one of those, you'll have to let me know so we can come up with a skill set. If not, though, just pick one from that page and make a note of the skills it mentions.
There are two steps to building your skills. First is to assign points to your occupational skills which are the ones mentioned on page 40 of the rulebook with the occupation you chose. Multiply your EDU by 20 and this is the number of skill points you can allot to occupational skills. Attached to this post is a character sheet which will show you all your base skill chances. Note that they are not all the same. Use your EDUx20 points to add to the base chances for a given skill. Note that if the base chance for a skill is 1% you don't count that 1% when adding to the skill. Meaning if you want to bring a skill up from 1% to 10% you must spend 10 points not 9. Alternatively if you want to bring a skill up from 15% to 35%, for example, you need to spend 20.
Once that's done you can move on to personal interest skills. Multiply your INT by 10 and this will give you another pool of points to apply to skills. This time, though, you're not forced to pick only occupational skills, you can add to any skill on the character sheet, in the rulebook, or a new skill we agree on adding. The only skill you can't add to in this way is Cthulhu Mythos. That skill is improved during the game in a different way.
When listing your skills, keep the occupational ones separate from the personal interest skills for ease of verification.
After your skills are set, you're pretty much done. You call fill out the firearms information if you took those kinds of skills, but that's not required (see page 34 of the rulebook) .You can make your investigator older if you like which will increase his/her EDU score but also reduce other characteristics (see page 34 of the rulebook). You can also roll for your income if you want to, but I don't typically worry about that too much. Certainly feel free, though. Lastly, it's definitely a good idea to write a short background for your character so we all have some sense of who they are.
The following blank character sheet has the base values for all the skills.
