Woah, I thought everyone had exhausted their band lists. Good stuff :)

I'll update when I get home.

Electronic/Dance:

Wolfgang Gartner
Fire Power
Undertaker
Frenetica (only added because of the 'video'... and the bass)

and some others are really good too but become boring after a while so I only post these two because they are sick

It's cancer. You'll find out six months before it happens.

Here's the bands I've been most crazy about in the past few years, by genre.

Black and Viking Metal
Bathory
Burzum
Dimmu Borgir
Emperor

Goth Metal
Birthday Massacre
HIM
Lacuna Coil
Tiamat (A Deeper Kind of Slumber)
Type O Negative

Melodic and Progressive Death Metal
Amorphis
In Flames
Opeth

Postmetal
Explosions in the Sky
Isis
Pelican
Red Sparowes

It looks like you've lumped all "metal" into one list, but trust me these are nothing alike. Don't assume if you like one you'll like the others. Metal has gone a lot of different directions in the past fifteen years.

Edit: Yay 1000 posts!

Billy Talent - Alternative(?)

They only have 3 CD's released so far, but all of their songs have high replayability. Oh, and they're Canadian.
I never ragequit. Well....only sometimes. Maybe a bit more than that. ...Okay, a lot. FINE, I ALWAYS RAGEQUIT. GOD.

Well, the first time this thread was posted the metal bands were split into different groups. I lack the knowledge to do so again, and no one has stepped forward with the offer to do so.

It's not a big deal. I just mentioned it so people unfamiliar with these bands wouldn't try one and assume they will like (or not like?) the rest as well.

Amorphis -> Power Metal
In Flames -> Melodic Death Metal
Opeth -> Progressive Metal

I don't know a lot of Opeth songs, but I think the heaviest doesn't sound Death Metal at all. For the other categories, it's fine.

About Black Metal, I'm fond fond of the genre, but you should try Blut Aus Nord or Wolves In The Throne Room. And for Progressive Death Metal, try Between The Buried And Me, they're amazing.

Punk or Punk Hardcore. They were one of my favorite bands back in 2006. Try some Mathcore (Punk Hardcore with several rythm ruptures), like Protest The Hero or The Number Twelve Looks Like You.

I could try to sort them... when I have the time.

Opeth and Amorphis are progressive metal. In Flames is melodic death metal.

I combined some genres since they're somewhat similar so people would have an easier time sorting out what they might like, plus then there wouldn't be a bunch of genres with only one band listed for each. For instance Black and Viking metal, or the previously mentioned bands.

I knew someone would nitpick though! :p
