Max is indeed in Low Tier for Atlas. Genuinely curious as to why.

Sounds like a mistake on our part. It's pretty easy to accidentally overlook a CO when making lots of different settings at once. Max should definitely be allowed in mid tier since arties are pretty important on Atlas, but yeah Low Tier is a bit much. I'll go fix that now.

In the future if you notice anything like that, please point it out sooner! Often as not, things like that are probably a mistake, and if it's not then there's no harm in questioning it.

Okay, good news everyone. We updated the league maps a bit today. Five maps were taken out, and five new maps were put in. Also, all of the league settings were updated to reflect the newest version of the Official CO Tier List. We're also planning on adding some more maps to the league over the next couple of weeks, but haven't finished everything for those maps yet.

The first post has been updated with the new maps and their respective settings. Please let us know if you see any problems!

good news everyone

I read tha in Farnsworth' voice.

JESSES! I'm glad of the dismissing of some the maps. And the new maps look promosing. Just: Hasn't Sahara been in the league before?

No, Sahara was used in the GT2 group stage, and once in the past in Colosseum. But it hasn't been in the league.

Do you have a "Settings: Top Tier - Low Tier - Bottom Tier" for the new maps?

I think Max needs to be updated to be exclusively high tier, since pretty much every map supports copter spam.

Yes, because we deemed Max to be not as good on those. On Shangri-La, artillery are very important already for the capture phase because there are contested properties that can be artylocked from fairly safe positions. Aria of War has very heavy terrain both on and between the fronts and a backwards airport. Atlas is narrow and there are two pairs of properties that are commonly artylocked. Elstar is big and doesn't have connected fronts, which makes it easier to establish walls.

So I've gone over this extensively with Headphone, Glen, Walker, and others, and we've come to the conclusion that the League maps could use some additions and removals. I plan on updating the Global League maps with a rather major update by April 1st. I aim to address the problems with some of the older maps in the current rotation, as well as updating the current playlist with several solid and interesting maps. In total, four maps will be removed, and seven maps will be added. The settings will maintain the general form of the current version of the Official CO Tier List.

The settings have already been finished, and use a large variety of tiers. The first post will be updated accordingly when the update goes live.

Although it's hard to say goodbye to Rainy and Atlas, they've served their time in the league. Good choices to take out all around.

I only have one broad thing to say about the new additions: keep an eye on the maps with 3 starting bases. The balance on those maps is always pretty tricky, so just make sure you watch some of the games on them at first to assure yourself that there aren't any noticeable balance issues - especially on the ones with a preowned city to compensate. I don't think there should be any huge problems, but you can't really tell til you watch some high level games.

Agreed. I personally don't think it will be an issue, but I'll be keeping a close eye on those maps in question to see if I'll be proven wrong.
