The tournament winner will be decided by a double elimination knockout stage no matter what, so yes, there will be a loser's bracket. We might have to tweak around the group stage or do some different things with seeding depending on the number of players, but it won't change the major elements of the double elimination stage.

Signing Up

To sign up, please post in this thread stating your desire to participate. Please read the tournament rules and information before signing up.

There are an unlimited amount of places available. However, the tournament organizers reserve the right to impose an arbitrary cutoff number for signups. Spots in the tournament are first come, first serve. The minimum number of signups that we'd like to reach is 48.

Tournament Format

The format of the tournament will depend on how many players wish to participate. However, the desired tournament format will consist of 2 stages:

Stage 1 will be a Round Robin group stage.
Stage 2 will be a Double Elimination knockout stage.

Stage 1:
The number of groups and the amount of players per group will depend on the number of participants. In order to select the groups, players will be seeded into pools. Then all players from each pool will be randomly placed into groups so that each group has an even number of players from each pool.

Each player will play every other person in their group. Depending on the number of people in the group, all Stage 1 games may either be played simultaneously or be spread out. Rankings within groups will be determined on a 3-point system (3 points for win, 1 point for draw, 0 points for loss).

Stage 2:
After Stage 1, players will be placed into a double elimination bracket based on their performance in the group stage. For example, the winner of each group will start in the upper bracket and may get a bye, while the loser of each group will start in the lower bracket. The exact format will depend on how many players there are. Note: No players are eliminated after the group stage.

Stage 2 will be a regular double elimination tournament. You are eliminated once you lose your second game or when you lose a game in the loser bracket. The winner of Stage 2 is the tournament winner.

General Rules

- No joining with more than one account
- All maps will be chosen by tournament admins (with help from Map Committee) and announced in advance
- All games will be "normal" settings (no HF games, no FoW, clear weather, no tags)
- Luck COs, broken COs, and bbombs are universally banned
- All group games will have a capture and day limit (decided map by map)
- One (1) vacation is allowed during the group stage, and one vacation is allowed during the double elimination stage
