Re: Red11 Casual Knockout Tourney * Late 1st Round Game *

Postby Red11 » Thu Mar 31, 2011 12:23 am

Hey Small Gezzer,

I cant remember which other COs were available for that game, but Sami can be defeated on that map. Im thinking Lash, Max or Grimm. The key is to build recons instead of trying to match Sami's infantry with your own infantry. You have to get tracked and wheeled units out there early and stick them on neutral cities. Also mobile units can co-ordinate more quickly and readily. Ive played on quite a number of high base maps and infantry spamming is not always the best plan, imo.

It looks like the web site is down, so there will be a delay to the tourney.

Game finished.

Sami must always use SCOP to win.
But I I selected COP 2 times.
I think that it produced a good effect.

Good job Mont-Blanc. tavirow definately drew the short straw of the 1st round, playing second on that map, but well fought anyhow. I was thinking player 2 picking Sturm might offer good prospects on the map, but i really don't know!

Recently, I played Sami VS. Sturm game in league game here.
http://awbw.amarriner.com/prevmaps.php?maps_id=49299

I used Sami. but lost quickly.
I can't stop opponent's Recon rush that's crasy.

This game sealed all high cost unit and 2x income,
Recon must destroy by Mech but easily to create.
Perhaps, this game using Sami is better.

Outside Track Qualifier:

This component of the Red11 Casual Knockout Tourney is being kept as an option at this moment in time.

I would like to hear feedback : should this go ahead ? I will be heavily influenced by what players want!

Players may enter 'Outside Track' qualifier games organised by Red11 if they meet the following:

1, They didnt forfeit any game in the tourney.
2, They only lost one game in the entire tourney. A second loss is final.
3, They played in the 1st round of the tourney and lost.
4, They played in the second round of the tourney and lost
5, They played in third round of the tourney and lost (optional)

6, The single player who prevails in 'Outside Track' qualifier will re-enter the main event in the semi-final (Round 4)

7, To be fair to players in the premier Round, they are in the pole positions of the tourney as will become evident.

8, I propose this event in case there is interest in playing some more games! If there is not enough interest, it doesnt matter.

9, Outside Track games will be played on smaller maps, with shorter time limits.

10, It is *optional whether you wish to enter the 'Outside Track' qualifier.

11, Could slow down tourney.

Surely every time you let people in it prolongs the tourney?
I know it sounds harsh, but don't add any people, just play through the remaining games.
If people want another tourney, then just set up another one.

No need to kame things more complicated or slower than they already are.
Even after I get knockwd out next round, I stand by this comment!
More Strategy, less Real Time

Basically he's just considering making it double elimination. I see no problem with that.

Well, the regular semi-finalists would have to wait for the winner of the outside track, if the outside trackers need more time.

Anyway, I like the idea, but I'm already 'eliminated' and therefore not neutral on that case.
If you know the enemy and know yourself you need not fear the results of a hundred battles.

I'd say yes, even though It's probably biased because I'll likely lose round 2. It seems more fair to me, especially with sometimes bad map position, opponent, Sami, etc. and I honestly can't imagine it'll take too long, just a bit longer. So yes from me as well.

Round 'B' - "Boot Camp"

Welcome Back!

Recap of events so far:

Feb.9 2011, Red11 inaugurated the event and took calls from far and wide.
Feb.14 2011, Round D was launched, late entries followed, some couldnt handle it and dropped out.
Feb.14-Apr.16, 11/12 games produced decisive results, 18 games were proposed, 1 in progress
Apr 16, 2011, Round 'B' is now launched

This round consists of the 12 victorious players of Round 'D' fighting on 6 new maps. The maps are larger than the 1st round, they express more a campaign feel than the intense slaughter/spam of Round 1.

Some maps continue themes from Round 1, albeit in a more expanded form. IE 'Cockroach'-'Delta Swarm', 'I dont agree with you'-'Deliver Ordinance'

Players may find themselves more in an element to their liking, naval and air units and higher funds are now in evidence.

The pace of play is set slower, for a more contemplative and leisurely game. Boot and AET is 6 days.

Once again pairings were made completely randomly, on a number generator web-site.

The six winners will proceed to the third stage of the tourney. This is a five round tourney. The fifth round is the 2 player grand final!

If you are going to win just one more game this year, make it this one. :-)

'Boot Camp' - 'It's where you learn to be tough' ;-)

Procedural:

All games are in private.

password is : b11

Orange Star should join 1st, then player 2. Let player 2 know about the game, with friendly private message.

I realise players are in other events, but please get the game started ASAP, after CO selection.

The 1st few moves may require much thought, but shouldnt take too much time to execute.
