A solution have to exist:
- you use satellite communication
- you go to the next town's cybercafé with a car
- you give your account password to someone you trust entirely
- you reduce your travel to 2 weeks
- you go to the rural south-west Netherlands instead, and even better, the rural south-west Singapore
- you forfeit from the tournament
- we use a small map in order to finish before October... no, even this shouldn't work
- we remake a map with several dummy players, who let the game survive until you're back
- you're fired!
- Amarriner or Quack codes the game-fridge, where you can preserve game for several months
- we start the finale when you're back ans I hope the other don't go on the other edge of the earth

So tell me your preference, if you don't come with a better idea.

Well, it seems a bit unfair to penalise me seeing as the last round ended in May and i've been able to play since then. So if you decide to start the final late August it's unsurprising that people's situations have changed...

If people don't want to wait or play quickly and finish by october then i'll have to resign my seat, but i'd rather it didn't come to that.

And no, i won't have access to the internet when i'm away.

So here's two options:
1. Start the game soon and play fast.
2. Delay the game until dhomo is back.

I'm okay with both options.
1. We start the game soon (this week) and agree to play fast (that means try and move daily, and not sleep a nigt over a move.) Of course hellraider and ultra have to agree to that too. That way the game should have progressesw a lot before octobre. It might even be over. Probably not though. Someone else could play for dhomo by then if that's needed, but that not an ideal situation.

2. I don't mind waiting until late december/begin januari (after the holidays) to start the game. I'm not in a hurry. It does mean delaying the game for over 4 months, which is a pretty long time.
In februari/march 2010 I'm going hiking in turkey for about three weeks. This shouldn't be a problem if the game gets long boot/aet intervals (just for that, not for stalling) and the other three players take slow turns while I'm away. I can also maybe get online once or twice (internetcafe or something) to move a unit.

*Flashback* Round 1 finished May 30th, 2009. I knew I couldn't have access to Internet (at all, or just to a graphical browser), or be very busy for several periods of 1 weeks to 1 month until September. But I thought that everyone should be available (vacations apart) from September 2009 to June 2010.

Anyway, the map was available June 27th 2009. So if the game had started this day, there would be ~3 months to finish it until early October. And, as the game is on a big map, in FoW, and without time limit, I expected it to last at least 5 months, possibly 8.*End of Flashback*


After all, if we see the total duration of a tournament from the first post to the end of the finale, we have:
-YOLT: 21 months and counting
-Grand Tournament: 14 months and counting
-TET: 9 months and counting
-Point Tournament: 10 months
-DART 07/08: 6 months
-Tiny Units: 4 months

So, if we hurry and finish before Dhomo's departure, the tournament will last 10 months. If we take our time, it will last 18-21 months.

Now, it's up to UltraStorm and Hellraider.

Hence there will be enough time to playtest Unorthodox Diplomacy, or even find/create another maps.

So, as far as I recall Dhomo said that he was going to return mid december or somewhere around Christmas, and it is past that time already. Are we going to wait longer (we have to wait until benbever returns from vacation anyway -_-) or do we play with only 3 players? If so, I suggest

The finale will be played with a 4 player map, and Unorthodox Diplomacy seems a good choice. However, if Dhomo doesn't return, either:
- The game will be played at 3 (with me joining then resigning at day 1).
- I'll take one people from the remaining players.
I'll choose soon what to do.

The map is imbalanced if one player drops out. If for instance BH doesn't play, the initial circumstances for the other players differ.

I have written the rules of the finale.


The playtest will be erased in 4 days. In short:

I began to attack Ace, while looking for an alliance with JAM. Yuki started to attack Ace and me. At day 8, she gave her HQ to JAM. JAM accepted despite my warnings.

At the time, JAM had 140 properties, Ace and me 125. JAM was close to capture one of Ace's HQs. But Yuki's units had disappeared. I made an alliance with Ace, which became successful at day 12.

Remarks:
- In each part, South-Center player's airport is vulnerable to a Missile lock, whereas it's not the case of South-West and South-East.
- Flak and Jess may be a better choice than Rachel here.
- With a full-HP Fighter, a 4HP Mech and a 5HP tank, 2 bases and 1 airport, Ace (with my advices ) managed to push back a very strong force with steady reinforcements. It was very close.
- Since it was a playtest, Ace and me decided to stop here. But in the finale, you'll have to continue the fight. Thus the turn order is very important.

- You start with 30 points.
- Each time you finish your turn, broadcast a message.
- Depending on the time difference of the last message (in hours) you gain/lose some points:

- If you have written the message before you have finished your turn, you will get a penality of 5 points.

If you don't resign for the third turn, an almighty admin will ban you forever from AWBW. If you try to return, you will be sentenced to a long and painful death.

Well okay, that's something new. But why do we have to broadcast a message when you can read from the log when each turn ended?
